SHELL COX WELLNESS HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY.
1. Policy Statement
Shell Cox Wellness is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all employees, clients, contractors, and visitors. We recognise our responsibility under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and other relevant legislation to maintain high standards of health, safety, and welfare.
2. Aims and Objectives
We aim to:
- Prevent accidents and cases of work-related ill health
- Provide safe and suitable environments for meditation and relaxation activities
- Maintain safe equipment and safe systems of work
- Ensure employees are adequately trained and competent
- Engage in regular risk assessments and apply appropriate controls
3. Responsibilities
Management (Owners/Directors):
- Ensure health and safety measures are in place and implemented
- Review policies and procedures annually or after significant changes
- Provide relevant training and personal protective equipment (PPE) if required
Employees:
- Take reasonable care of their own health and safety
- Follow all safety instructions and report any concerns immediately
- Cooperate with management on health and safety matters
Clients and Visitors:
- Are expected to adhere to site-specific safety guidance
- Must report any accidents, discomfort, or safety concerns to a member of staff
4. Risk Assessments
Risk assessments will be carried out for:
- Equipment used in sound therapy or meditation sessions
- Electrical safety of devices and sound systems
- Trip hazards (cables, floor mats, lighting)
- Fire safety and emergency exits
- Mental and physical wellbeing of clients during sessions
Assessments will be documented, reviewed regularly, and updated when necessary.
5. Training and Supervision
All employees and contractors will receive appropriate induction and ongoing training to ensure they understand:
- Fire safety procedures
- Emergency exits and first aid arrangements
- Manual handling (if applicable)
- Safe use of equipment used in therapy and relaxation sessions
6. First Aid and Emergency Procedures
- First aid kits are available on-site and maintained regularly
- Designated first aiders will be trained and clearly identified
- Emergency procedures (including fire evacuation) will be clearly displayed and communicated
7. Incident Reporting
All accidents, incidents, or near misses must be reported and recorded in the company accident book. These will be reviewed by management to prevent recurrence.
8. Fire Safety
- Fire extinguishers and alarms will be installed and maintained
- Exits will be kept clear at all times
- Regular fire drills will be carried out where required
9. Review and Monitoring
This policy will be reviewed annually or after any significant change in operations, location, or legislation. All staff will be made aware of updates to the policy.
